In one line: St. Pete Windows is a St. Petersburg window company. We install new windows, replace old ones, fit impact glass, repair what can be repaired and hang sliding glass doors, for houses between Tampa Bay and the Gulf.
A family business with Pinellas roots
We are a family-owned business based in St. Petersburg, and most of our work is on houses within a short drive of the office. In 2023, 2024 and 2025 the readers of Creative Loafing named us Best of the Bay, and that means more to us than any ad because the votes came from people who live here.
Phone us and a person on the St. Pete team picks up; there is no phone menu to fight through. We bring frame and glass samples out to you, so you can hold them, open them and compare them in your own living room, and we tell you plainly what fits the house and what you want to spend. Installs are handled by a licensed and insured crew that the manufacturer has certified, and the products come with solid manufacturer coverage on the unit and the install.
Why a window company and nothing else
A lot of the window work in Pinellas is sold by remodelers, roofers and big-box stores who subcontract the install to whoever is free that week. The person who measured is not the person who sets the window, and the person who sets it has never seen the quote. Most of the problems we are called to fix come from that gap: openings measured from the inside only, frames shimmed off a rotten sill, sealant run over the weep holes, labels peeled off before the inspector arrived.
So we kept the business small and the job in one set of hands. The crew that measures your openings orders the windows, sets them and stands there when the city inspector checks the anchors. When something is wrong, nobody else is available to blame.
What St. Petersburg houses teach you
The city was built in waves, and each wave left its own windows behind. Knowing which wave you live in tells us most of what we will find before we arrive.
- 1910s to 1930s bungalows and Mediterranean Revival homes. Old Northeast, Kenwood, Crescent Lake and Roser Park. Wood frames, rope-and-pulley or spring sashes, plaster returns. Many of these windows can be saved, and on a locally designated property any change needs the city's historic approval first.
- 1950s and 1960s block ranch homes. Most of the city south of Central Avenue and out toward Lake Maggiore and Pinellas Point. Concrete block, stucco, steel or aluminum awning and jalousie windows, often the originals. These openings are solid but rarely square.
- 1970s and 1980s homes and condos. Bronze aluminum single-hungs and sliders with single glazing, now chalky, pitted and hard to lock. The most common replacement we do.
- Waterfront and island houses. Snell Isle, Shore Acres, Coquina Key and the beach towns. Bigger glass, salt on everything, and a flood zone that shapes what can be done.
How we quote
Every quote starts with a visit. We measure each opening from outside as well as in, check the sill, the buck and the stucco joint, and note anything that will change the job: a rotten frame, an opening that has settled, a window that sits within a few feet of a door and so needs safety glass. Then you get a written quote that lists every opening on its own line, with a non-impact price and an impact price next to each other. If a repair would do instead, that goes on the quote too.
What we promise on every job
- The same crew from measure to final inspection.
- A written quote, and an invoice that matches it.
- Every window listed by brand, model and Florida Product Approval number, because the city's compliance form asks for exactly that.
- Labels left on until the inspector has signed off.
- Your floors covered, the old windows hauled away, and the stucco around each new frame patched before we call it done.
Storm season, and why we talk about it in January
Custom windows take weeks to build, and the city needs time to issue and inspect a permit. A homeowner who decides in August that the house needs impact glass is usually still waiting when the season peaks. We would rather have that conversation in the quiet months, when there is time to compare products, check what an insurer's wind-mitigation credit is worth and schedule the work on your timetable instead of the weather's.
Where we work
All of St. Petersburg, from the downtown condos to Pinellas Point, plus Gulfport, the beach towns from Pass-a-Grille to Treasure Island, Pinellas Park, Seminole and Largo. Each city runs its own permit office, and the beach communities add flood-zone rules, so part of every quote is checking which office your address answers to. Our Florida license number is CGC-1536112; you can look it up on the state's license site.
Where to start
If you already know what you need, each service has its own page: window replacement, impact windows, window repair and sliding glass doors. For numbers first, the St. Petersburg window price guide lists the ranges we quote from. Or call (727) 500-2890 and tell us about the house.
Questions about us
Do you sell one brand of window?
No. We are an installer, not a showroom for one manufacturer. We pick from several Florida-approved product lines by what the opening needs, and the quote names the brand, the series and the approval number for every unit.
Will you talk me out of a sale?
When a repair will do, yes. A fogged pane or a sash that will not stay up is not a reason to replace a sound window, and we would rather fix it and be the company you call when the house does need new windows.
How do I check a window contractor in Florida?
Florida licenses contractors through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and any license can be looked up by name or number at myfloridalicense.com. Ask for proof of insurance as well, and make sure the permit is pulled in the contractor's name.
