Short answer: most window repairs in St. Petersburg cost an estimated $120–$700, from a new sash balance to a replacement sealed glass unit. If the frame itself is sound, a repair is usually the better buy. If it is corroded or rotten, we will show you why replacement makes more sense.
Repairs we do most
Fogged or cloudy double-pane glass
When the seal around a double-pane unit fails, moist air gets between the panes and condenses there. We measure the glass, order a new sealed unit to size and fit it in the existing sash. The frame stays.
Broken or cracked glass
Single-pane windows are reglazed on site or in the shop. Double-pane and impact units are replaced with a new unit to match, including tempered glass where code requires it, such as near doors and in bathrooms.
Sashes that slam, stick or will not stay up
Single-hung and double-hung windows hold their sash with springs or balances inside the jamb. They wear out, and the sash drops or refuses to move. New balances are a quick fix for most makes.
Cranks, locks and rollers
Casement operators strip, awning arms bend, locks stop catching and slider rollers flatten. Replacement parts exist for most common windows, and we carry the usual ones.
Leaks around the frame
Water getting in around a window is usually failed sealant or blocked weep holes rather than the glass. We cut out the old sealant, check the weeps, seal the perimeter properly, and look for damage in the wall below.
Wood windows in older homes
The bungalows of Old Northeast and Kenwood often still have their original wood sashes. Many can be saved with rot repair, new glazing putty and new cords or springs, which matters more if the house is a designated landmark.
When we will suggest replacing instead
- The frame is corroded through or the corners have separated.
- The same window has needed more than one repair in a few years.
- Several windows show the same failure at the same time.
- The window is a jalousie or louver that cannot be made weathertight.
In those cases the quote shows the repair price and the replacement price together, so you can weigh them.
After a storm
If a window breaks in a storm, cover the opening from outside if you safely can, photograph the damage for your insurer, and call (727) 500-2890. We will board or secure the opening if needed and quote the glass.

Questions
Is it worth repairing an old aluminum window?
For a broken latch or a cracked pane, often yes. If the frame is pitted through, the tracks are corroded or the window leaks from the corners, the money is better spent on replacement, and we will tell you which case you are in.
Can fogged glass be cleaned instead of replaced?
Defogging services exist, but they only clear the view. The seal has still failed, so the unit no longer insulates as it should. Replacing the sealed glass unit in the existing frame is the lasting fix.
Do you repair impact windows?
Yes. A cracked impact pane can be replaced with a matching laminated unit, and hardware on impact windows can be serviced. The replacement glass has to match the product's approval, so we identify the window before ordering.
